Connect your watch via Intervals.icu
Coach Fartlek reads your workouts via Intervals.icu — a free service that aggregates training data from Garmin, Coros, Suunto, and Polar in one place. It takes a few minutes to set up.
1. Create a free Intervals.icu account
Go to intervals.icu and sign up with your email. The account is free and no subscription is required for Coach Fartlek to work.
2. Connect your watch in Intervals.icu
On the Settings page in Intervals.icu, choose where your training data comes from. Pick the option that matches your watch:
- Garmin — connect via "Garmin" in the Intervals.icu settings.
- Coros — connect via "Coros" in the settings.
- Suunto — connect via "Suunto" in the settings.
- Polar — connect via "Polar" in the settings.
- Open Connections in Intervals.icu
3. Choose to sync your history
After connecting your watch, tell Intervals.icu to sync your training history (not only new workouts). This lets Coach Fartlek see the last months of training from the start and build a better plan for you.
In the settings for your connected watch (e.g. under "Garmin") you'll find an option to import past activities — choose as far back as possible.
4. Wait until the sync is finished before continuing
The first sync can take anywhere from a minute up to several hours depending on how much history you have. We recommend waiting until it's done before continuing the Coach Fartlek onboarding — otherwise the coach risks building your plan on incomplete data.
You can see in Intervals.icu when your workouts start appearing in the calendar. Once the history is there, you're ready to go back to the app.
5. Go back to Coach Fartlek and connect the account
Back in the app, choose "Connect Intervals.icu" in the getting-started checklist and sign in with the same account. The app then starts pulling your workouts, resting heart rate, and HRV.
You can fill in the rest of the checklist while the sync runs: races, goal, and training days. The app waits for the sync on its own before calculating your training zones and building your first plan.
